Schedule Request

Thank you for your interest in scheduling a checkride with me. I'm glad you're working on your flight training, and I'd be happy to help you earn your certificate. Please read below for scheduling information.

For some time now, I've been receiving far more requests than I can accommodate. This has created several challenges, such as long delays in scheduling, significant time spent managing calendars, and last-minute cancellations from unprepared applicants. Weather delays, work schedules, aircraft issues, and other factors also add to the scheduling complexity. In addition to checkrides, I have other professional responsibilities, as well as family and personal commitments that vary from week to week.

Currently, I estimate my queue to be approximately two months long, though actual timing may vary (faster or slower) due to weather, cancellations/reschedules, other commitments, and factors beyond my control.

Because of these challenges, scheduling far in advance doesn't work well for anyone. To better manage all these factors, here is the system I will be using going forward:

Online Calendar

Click the buttons below to use my online calendar. A deposit (which will apply toward your checkride fee) is required to confirm an appointment. This deposit is intended to ensure that my calendar is booked only by applicants who are serious about being ready on a particular date. This deposit is not refundable if we need to cancel or reschedule due to incomplete or incorrect paperwork, you not being ready, FAA requirements not being met, an unairworthy or unavailable aircraft, or similar situations that cannot be resolved promptly at the time of our appointment. (For changes due to weather or the examiner, the deposit will be refunded or applied to a new date.)

If you cannot find a date on these calendars, I'm unable to offer a specific date at this time — see below to join the waitlist.

Waitlist

If there is not an available time on the calendar that works for you, join the waitlist:

Join the Waitlist.

I will use this information to create a prioritized list, generally in a first-come, first-served order, with some minor adjustments for efficiency.

Approximately once a week, I will assess my schedule, determine my availability for the next 1-3 weeks, and notify the next few applicants on the list (typically via text message) as times become available. I will usually not know my "next month" availability until around the 20th of the current month.

Notifications will go out in waitlist order, with some time given between each notification. You can then go to the calendar and claim an available time if it works for you.

If you cannot accept the options available or do not respond in a reasonable amount of time, I will continue with other applicants but keep you at the top of the notification list.

If we can't find a workable time within three months due to your availability or lack of response, I will need to remove you from the list so that I can more efficienctly focus on those who are more ready. You can rejoin at the end of the line if you'd like.

If you schedule with someone else or your circumstances change, please let me know so I can keep my information up to date.

Final Notes

None of this is meant to make the process impersonal or difficult. I’m still happy to talk—I’m just trying to stay organized and fair in a challenging situation where the demand for my time greatly exceeds its availability. Thank you for your understanding.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you,

Mike
